They say when one door closes, another one opens...

The beginning of summer is somewhat of a double-edged sword for a florist.  While they wave goodbye to their spring favorites (such as Hyacinth, Tulips, Anemones, Ranunculus, Hellaboros, and Blooming Branches), the most sought after flower of all is on it's way into Phoenix.  I am talking of none other than the indisputable champion of the floral world...

The Peony.

Be cool, my babies.  The Girls have more than enough Peonies to satisfy.

My affinity for the Peony has grown into a bit of an obsession.  I have rattled on about this divine little Bud of Joy for the past six months, growing more eager
(and annoying) as May approached.  After chasing down the most fabulous Peony grower I could possibly find, I placed my order.

 OUR order, sorry.

I need to be constantly reminded that the Peonies in the shop are actu
ally here for our Clients, not just me.  Unfortunately, I can't just fill my pool with
them and live there forever.  Le sigh.
The likeliness that my nose will be surgically removed from a peony by the end of the season has reached a terrifying high.  I'll be sure and keep you posted.

Here are a few pictures to really get you in the Peony Zone.

Flowershop Treasures: Weekly Edition.

As most of you already know, the Supreme Being herself Mrs. Teresa Wilson comes up with her very own Haute List in every issue of Fleur Atelier.

Unfortunately for all of our readers, Fleur Atelier is published only four ti
mes a year.  So in an effort to satisfy those of you who are left hankerin' for more, we've got a little s
omething to keep your hunger at bay.

Here are a few awesome finds the girls have picked up along their merry way.

Every Frost Brings a Flower
A Candle by Dayna Decker
$72.00

Dayna Decker is the exclusive line carried by Camelback Flowershop.  This luxur
y candle comes with a cedar wick that crackles as the candle burns down.   The scent carries hints of Fig Leaf, Saffron, Lotus Blossom, Blonde Woods, Sandalwood, and Cashmere Wood. The Box is covered in Swarovski crystals cascading down a gold manzanita branch.  Forget candles as an accessory to a gift, these babies speak for themselves.

*On a side note, I was reeeally considering putting some sort of Flowergirl 5 star rating on the items I choose to feature on the blog.  Something along the lines of, "I give this candle 4 tulips up!"
You know?  Cause tulips kinda droop when they're not getting eno
ugh water?
Anyone?
Ok, so maybe florist humor isn't for everyone.  But I'm gonna spare everyone the corny rating system and assure you that not one item we offer in this flowershop is anything short of spectacular.  You've got my word.

The Knot Doorstopper
$60.00

This knotted doorstopper is adorable.  Perfect for just about any style of home or office, or in Lauren's case... SOCCER!

The Three Robbers
by Tomi Ungerer
$16.95

You MUST have read this book when you were a youngen'!
A bonafide classic, it's got everything: Robbers, a Pepper-blower (?), a Blunderbuss (??), and a little orphan girl as the heroine.  It's also a Hans Christian Andersen prize winner.  An adorable gift for any age.

Raise a Glass!

Wine aficionado and longtime client Chad Williams wed his lovely bride, Janelle, this past Friday.  In this business we see our fair share of lovebirds, and you hear the Wedding Day Cliches.  The groom's a bit nervous.   The bride is stressed from months of plan
ning to execute the perfect day (the word "Bridezilla" may cross one's mind, but you didn't hear that from me).  This was simply not the case with these two.  This couple had
something rare.

In honor of Janelle and Chad, I have decided to launch a new method of blogging about our weddings and events.  First off - wedding's aren't to be BLOGGED about (that word is ridiculous at best, not to mention overused) they're to be reme
mbered.  Cherished.  Fairytaled, even.  At least that will be my goal when attempting to summarize and convey to my readers the feeling of actually being in the presence of true love, and all the pretty things

So, without much further ado, I give you...
Through the Florist's Eyes:  The World as the Flowershop Girl's see it.
(Honestly, is there any other way?)

*Please hold all applause until the end

Chad and Janelle Williams
This past Friday, May 1st, Janelle and Chad tied the knot.  They decided to follow the tradition of not seeing each other before the wedding.  Only a few hours, right? Pssh.
Not when you're waiting to marry the love of your life.  As a wise man once said (and if you guess this movie, you will be rocketed to VIP status), "When you find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, you want the rest of your life to begin as soon as possible."

Janelle:
As I previously stated, month's of planning for The Big Day can amount to a monument of stress for the Bride-To-Be.  Every detail, down to the color of the napkins is poured over with painstaken detail.  Our brides, however, can rest assured that the flowers will be one less thing to worry about! :)
Janelle was the picture of exuberance.  Giggling and overjoyed at the thought of marrying Chad, she was thoroughly enjoying every minute of her d
ay.  Her dress was absolutely stunning, and her hair fell down around her shoulders in perfect waves.  She jumped into the arms of the groomsmen party for some fun pictures and even posed for the Flowershop Girls so we could keep a few snapshots of her fabulous, one-of-a-kind bouquet.   True to her favorite color, the bouquet was comprised of Pink Hydrangea, Blush Cymbidium Orchids, and Deep Plum Schwartzwalder Calla Lillies.

Chad:
"When do I get to see her already?!"
Chad couldn't wait to see his Lady.  Shifting from foot to foot, he was like a kid on Christmas morning.  He looked sharp in his fitted tux with a Blush Cymbidium Orchid accenting his lapel.  Chad Williams has been coming to Camelback Flowershop for years, and we can't tell you how happy we are to see him tie the knot with a wonderful girl like Janelle.  Just so long as he never stops bringing us free bottles of wine ;)
Congratulations Chad and Janelle Williams!
